Kid Review: Anjon’s

The welcome reopening of Scarborough landmark

By Cam O’Toole, 10

Are you looking for a restaurant for a special occasion? In that case, you should go to Anjon’s.

The name Anjon’s came from a couple who wanted to start a restaurant. The wife was named Ann and the husband was named John, so they called it Anjon’s. It was open for 70 years but then it closed and reopened. It’s a very nice restaurant for people in Scarborough.

When you walk in you, there is a wall covered with wine corks on the left and it continues into the bar. There you will see a bar on the right and on the left and you will see some tables with a T.V. This would be a good place for older people, for middle-aged people, and for cork enthusiasts. In the other room that is facing the marsh there are some tables that all have a little lamp on them. There are big windows with a great view of the marsh. This room would be good for families, friends, and marsh enthusiasts.

The staff were really, really nice and the food came quickly. I really liked how it was presented. When we got it, the plates had been customized to have the word “Anjon’s” on them. There are edible green leaves sprinkled around the edges of the plate, and they brought unlimited cheese in shakers. I used a lot.

The first course that we ordered was an appetizer. We got the famous stuffed bread. In the stuffed bread there was pepperoni and salami with provolone cheese. It was very good.

For the main course I got spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were very big, and they had delicious seasoning on them. The spaghetti was long, stringy and cooked to perfection. The meat sauce had bits of beef in it and very delicious tomato sauce.

My brother had lasagna. The lasagna was very dense and had a lot of cheese in it. It also came with meatballs. The lasagna was about the size of a brick (but it didn’t certainly taste like one).

For dessert, we got lemon cake. It had powdered sugar on top and whipped cream beside it, for a very good presentation. My mom took so long taking pictures of it that the whipped cream melted. When you bite into the cake you taste lemon and cheesecake. The texture was soft and creamy.

In conclusion, I really liked going to Anjon’s and I hope they do well. I hope you can go there too.
