Pine Point Report: Summer 2025

New association works with Town as it continues to grow

By Pine Point Association

Signs of summer’s arrival are clearly visible at Pine Point. Businesses are opening. Cottages are welcoming back their summer residents and visitors. Warmer breezes and brighter skies are drawing people back for longer beach walks. We’re pleased to bring you another report from the Pine Point Association.

Our association business members The Stern Restaurant, Bayley’s Lobster Pound, The Bait Shed, Dog Days Gifts are open – and Emma’s Eats at Hurd Park will open soon. A new business, The Maine Scoop is operating at the former site of Bayley’s Ice Cream. Good Ways Market and Deli opened in April at the former site of the Beach House Market on East Grand Avenue. Noah and Madison offer fresh baked goods, wraps, pizza, hot dogs, and beverages. They have cottage supplies, fishing and surfing items, beach needs and more!

We invite these new businesses along with anyone doing business in Pine Point to join our association as a business member.  We can promote your business, and you can weigh in on the needs of the community while you support our work.

Our association continues our monthly board meetings, open to all association members. We also hold two general membership community meetings, open to all, at the Pine Point Firehouse on June 24 and an August date to be determined. We’ll announce our plans for our second annual summer beach party in July for our members and prospective members at the June 24 general meeting. Our first summer party featured food and beverages and entertainment by the Don Campbell Band. Our board is considering some new ideas including a Community Yard Sale and an Art and Craft Sale. We organize spring and fall beach cleanups, our subcommittees focus on specific locations and concerns of residents, and we monitor all the various services provided by the Town of Scarborough to keep our beaches and neighborhoods clean and safe.

Due to our positive and productive relationship with the Town of Scarborough – in meetings with Public Safety, Public Works, Community Services, and other departments – we have successfully advocated for increased daily police presence for traffic control, parking enforcement, and property safety. We advocated for the summer beach ranger program to provide public safety resource officers walking the beach and stationed at Hurd Park. The town’s animal control officer also makes regular visits to the beach to educate and enforce the rules for dogs on the beach. The Town has shared plans for improvements at Hurd Park, such as a new entrance and exit, and asked for our feedback. We are collaborating to replace the damaged kiosks at Snowberry Park. We have requested street sweeping, repainting of crosswalks, safety mirrors for better visibility, and parking enforcement for the safety of all residents and visitors.

Welcome to summer at Pine Point!
