Kristine Trogner knows firsthand the challenges of owning and renting a second home. Until recently, she and her husband owned a cabin in Prospect Harbor, near the Schoodic Peninsula in Down East Maine. They loved it, but once their son was born the three-hour drive and the difficulty of managing it from afar became challenging, so they decided to sell. The experience left Kristine with a clear understanding of what second-home ownership really entails. Now, from her home in Scarborough’s Blue Point neighborhood, she has launched a property management service to help others problem-solve the challenges she faced.
Kristine brings more than just her own second-home story to the table. With years of experience as both a realtor and a paralegal, she has a Rolodex of reliable tradespeople and brings empathy, knowledge, and attention to detail to every relationship.
Kristine grew up in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and spent summers visiting relatives in Saco. She remembers the thrill of driving past the Biddeford mills, knowing the beach was close. After college in Vermont and time living in California and Pennsylvania, she and her husband began searching for a place to put down roots. Portland kept popping up in the press as both livable and affordable, and its ocean proximity sealed the deal. They moved north in 2012, found jobs, and fell in love with Maine’s blend of beaches, mountains, and lighthouses.
By 2016, Kristine was ready for a career change. Tired of desk work but still drawn to helping people through major life decisions, she got her real estate license. She found her niche working with first-time buyers, especially those who thought homeownership was out of reach. Helping young renters step into their first homes became one of the most rewarding parts of her career.
After her son was born, the family settled in Scarborough. Looking to better serve her clients, Kristine started offering property management services in addition to real estate. Today she offers a full menu of services, from managing repairs, maintenance, and cleaning, to drive-by security checks. She treats her clients’ homes and investment properties with the same care she once gave her own. Her philosophy is simple: make second-home ownership as easy and carefree as possible. Because she’s been in their shoes, Kristine knows exactly what remote owners need.
