Pine Point Report: April 2026

Staying informed of neighborhood improvements

By George Mageles, Pine Point Association

As the days grow longer and warmer, and the beach grass grows greener and fuller, we’re pleased to bring you another report from the Pine Point Association.

Infrastructure Projects

This year, two major infrastructure projects are planned for Pine Point. In the northeast neighborhoods, Maine Water is replacing the aging water mains and service lines on King Street, Jones Creek Drive, and the side streets with a finish date of July 1. Roadways may be partially obstructed, and parking may be reduced or eliminated on Jones Creek Drive temporarily.

The Pine Point Association created an Infrastructure Subcommittee, specifically tasked with meeting with the project contractors and tracking the progress and impact of these projects on both residents and visitors.

The other project is the East Grand Avenue Complete Streets Project, moving through the planning and public feedback processes this spring with the project continuing into 2027. A complete streets design aims to enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users. For more information on this project, visit the town’s website (click here).

Staying Informed

Pine Point Association leadership and Pine Point residents had an opportunity to discuss these projects and other issues at a recent Conversation with the Counselors. The Scarborough Town Council came out to many areas of the town this year, and held occasional online sessions, to hear from residents.  We appreciate these opportunities to get to know the councilors, hear their goals for the town, and express our concerns.  We recommend the twice-monthly Scarborough Town E-Newsletter as an effective way to stay informed on what is happening around town. Go to the town website to subscribe.

The Sustaining Scarborough Advisory Group met recently, with a member of the association leadership representing Pine Point. Among the five focus areas of the project plan, Thriving Natural and Coastal Resources and Smart Land Use and Transportation hold particular interest for the residents of Pine Point. For more on this project, and to take a quick poll with a chance to win a prize, go to sustainingscarborough.org/action-plan.
