Kid Review: Bayley’s Seafood Restaurant

A family restaurant with delicious local seafood

By Cam O’Toole, 12

Have you ever been at the beach and just craving some good seafood? If that’s you, then I have a great place for you to go. Its name is Bayley’s Seafood Restaurant. It is located across the road from Blue Point Elementary School on the road to Pine Point Beach.

When you walk in and order your food you have three places that you can choose from to sit. You can sit downstairs, upstairs, or outside. Downstairs is on the main level and closest to the kitchen. Upstairs has the greatest number of tables and chairs. You can see down through the windows onto the street. On the inside there are bright cozy lights and clean tables. You can hear some music in the background, and it smells like seafood in a good way. On the walls they have pictures of fishermen on the Bayley family boats. Outside there are some picnic tables to eat at if the weather is nice.

Captain Stan Bayley, the father of one of the owners; fried whole belly clams; the condiment boat; the sign on Pine Point Road.

Our server was very nice and told us about the history of the restaurant. She said that the recipes they use have been handed down for generations and are about sixty years old. They make their own homemade clam chowder and haddock chowder, clam cakes, and onion rings cut be hand.

After we finished talking, we received our food. I got the homemade fried haddock nugget box. It was amazing. It was really big and the haddock was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I liked the tartar sauce.

My grandma had the mushroom veggie burger with honey mustard sauce; the roll was buttered and grilled. It was very big and delicious.

Kids who haven’t been to a seafood restaurant before would like going to Bayley’s because they have new things that they can try and because they have fried things. (Gotta love fried stuff.) They also have lots of food you can eat with your hands without your parents yelling at you, like my haddock nuggets.

Parents would like that there is something for everybody and they have a friendly staff. I recommend Bayley’s to anybody who likes seafood or has had a long day at the beach or at a baseball game and doesn’t feel like making dinner. They’ll take good care of you. Tell them Cam sent you.
