New red light therapy and infrared sauna in Scarborough

Imagine you’re driving around Scarborough, juggling errands and a never-ending to-do list, when you decide to swing by Perfect Fit Health and Fitness and spend a few minutes in their infrared sauna. You step into the private room and select your setting. As the heat and light slowly build, your body relaxes. You breathe deeper. You feel refreshed and energized – and those are just the short-term effects.

This spring, Perfect Fit became the only place in Scarborough to offer this unique experience. Infrared heat penetrates deep into your body to relax sore muscles and alleviate pain. The sauna also includes chromotherapy (color light therapy), a holistic healing practice that uses the visible light spectrum to treat various physical and mental conditions. It is based on the principle that different colors have unique wavelengths and frequencies that can influence the body’s energy systems and promote healing.

Perfect Fit has also started offering red light therapy. Red light exposure is believed to boost mitochondrial production, improving cell function and repair. Perfect Fit’s owner, Tricia McIntrye has seen the results firsthand. After several weeks of treatments, her skin looked younger and healthier. Her husband, a contractor, tried it too and noticed less pain from carpal tunnel syndrome.

It’s no surprise that Tricia has brought these treatments to Scarborough. She’s been helping people look and feel their best since her teens, when she started teaching dance and fitness classes. Her fitness students often urged her to start her own studio. That took time. She went to college, worked in the corporate world, and taught Zumba and dance on the side. Then, in 2020, she bought the equipment of a closing studio and took the leap.

Five years later, Perfect Fit is thriving. Tricia now has five trainers, a bigger space, full classes, and new services like nutrition counseling. When you walk in today, you feel it: a warm, welcoming community. Members range in age from 20s to 87. People come for the personal attention, the small setting, and the results. Tricia is proud of what she has created, “It’s not uncommon for people to say, ‘This is the best part of my day.’”

So, the next time your to-do list feels endless, pull into Oak Hill Plaza and step into the warmth. Perfect Fit’s infrared sauna and red light therapy may be just the reset your mind and body need.
