Great Scarborough Leaf Peeping Walks

Autumn in New England is full of color, check out these Scarborough Land Trust (SLT) Preserves for fall foliage:

· Libby River Preserve (Black Point Road) – Red osier dogwood stems, yellow poplar leaves, and purple aster flowers stand out from the observation deck.

· Warren Woods Preserve (Payne Road) – Blueberries, cranberries, red maples all deliver brilliant crimson hues.

· Broadturn Farm Preserve (Hanson Road) – Oak, beeches, maples, conifers, and ash trees create a full spectrum of fall color.

· Fuller Farm Preserve (Broadturn Road) – Poplars pop with yellow-golden tones that combine with goldenrod and asters in the hayfield. Oaks and maples create a yellow, orange, red palette in the forest.

Share the Woods Safely this Fall

Hunting is an important tradition that people have practiced on this land since time immemorable. Hunting is permitted on a number of SLT preserves and most of this activity is in the fall. For a full explanation of Maine hunting laws and seasons, visit the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website: https://www.maine.gov/ifw/hunting-trapping/hunting/index.html.

No hunting is allowed on Sundays throughout the State. Most hunters are out in the early mornings. SLT advises all trail users and their dogs to wear blaze orange clothing when on SLT preserves during the fall. You can learn the details of our hunting policy, see maps, and request permission on our Hunting page at http://www.scarboroughlandtrust.org/hunting.

SLT allows hunting with written notification on Libby River Preserve (bow only), Hemlock Grove Preserve (bow only), Fuller Farm, Warren Woods, Beaver Brook Preserve, Silver Brook Preserve, and some areas of Broadturn Farm. Hunting is also allowed on a remote section of Pleasant Hill Preserve, far removed from the trail system.
