Have you ever been hungry in West Scarborough and didn’t want to drive all the way across the marsh to get food? Well, I know a place where you can go. It is in the Dunstan neighborhood on Route 1 and it is called Pine Tree Seafood.
When you walk in, there is a case with all the seafood and you can get sandwiches. The staff are all very nice and they always write a smiley face on the wrapping of the sandwiches.
While you wait, you can see the lobsters that you are going to get in tanks. You can also look around the store. Some things I thought were kind of interesting are kelp relish, sushi ginger, clam juice, and rainbow trout pate. A pate is a sort of spread.
I ordered an SSLT (smoked salmon, lettuce, and tomato) sandwich. It tasted awesome. The bread was buttered and toasted to perfection. It was also very large. It was basically a BLT without the bacon, and instead there’s smoked salmon. My mom had the crab pattie sliders. She said it had a little bit of spice and it was very good. My brother tagged along for a lobster roll. (Typical.) He said it was the best lobster roll he had ever had. The bread was buttery and crunchy.
Outside in the eating area they have green picnic tables with blue umbrellas for shade. The lighting is provided by the sun so if you’re planning to go for a midnight snack, good luck with that. You can smell the salmon being smoked in the building next to the tables. Smoking is a different way to cook things. Instead of using heat, you use smoke. The tables are very clean.
Pine Tree Seafood would be good for people who are visiting Maine and people who live in West Scarborough. It’s also good for gifts for people who like gourmet seafood. If you haven’t been, you should check it out.
